Bill has been working as a full-time freelance illustrator since graduating with an illustration degree in 2002. In that time he has produced somewhere between 1500 and 2000 images, some of which have appeared in high-profile publications, including 'New Scientist'. He has exhibited several times in London galleries, and his work has been the subject of articles in a variety of books and magazines.
Bill says: "I originally started out as a traditional artist, using collage and acrylics, but the transition process to digital artist was surprisingly smooth considering even now I think of myself as being very much a Luddite, and of course the computer has speeded the act of making work greatly." Through illustration, he condenses what can be a very complex and abstract idea into a "visually readable concept", and he feels that medical and particularly biological subjects are a particularly "rich and diverse" area to illustrate.
