Ashley Prytherch

Ashley has worked as a medical photographer since 1988, beginning as a trainee at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff. After qualifying in 1990, Ashley started working at the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford and is now the Photography and Graphics Manager there.

His work is varied, but mainly involves the following departments and disciplines: maxillofacial; orthodontics; ear, nose and throat; general surgery; ophthalmology; and public relations. Ashley spends the majority of the working day in ophthalmology photographing and scanning (using ocular coherence tomography) patients with conditions including diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, glaucoma and uveitis.
