Ezequiel Miron

Ezequiel is a final-year PhD student at the University of Oxford. His PhD focuses on using super-resolution microscopy to investigate the way DNA is packaged in the complicated 3D environment of a cell’s nucleus. Such study requires many long hours in the dark rooms of fluorescent microscopes. However, it also offers the chance to be the first to see in detail the beauty of things that few people have seen before. This sense of seeing ‘beauty in discovery’ is captured by his micrograph.

Ezequiel completed his BSc in biochemistry at Imperial College London. An unashamed and self-proclaimed nerd, before that he studied every science subject available at school, including voluntary after-school astronomy! His love of and fascination with science was clearly there from the very start, judging by his favourite shows as a kid: ‘Dexter’s Laboratory’, ‘Pinky and the Brain’ and any good nature or technology documentary on TV. After years of academic study his curiosity is not even close to satisfied, and he hopes to enjoy science for as long as he can.

A native of Argentina, Ezequiel also enjoys good food, good music and good company (although not necessarily in that order).
