'TREES toolbox' computer model

The 'TREES toolbox' is an open-source software package that was developed to allow scientists to construct synthetic neurons that adhere to known biological principles. It provides a set of algorithms that automatically reconstruct neuronal branching and structural characteristics of nerve cells from fluorescent microscopy image stacks. This program produces accurate neuronal models that 'map' morphological characteristics such as axonal and dendritic branching, giving scientists a tool for visualising, analysing, editing and manipulating realistic synthetic neuronal networks to produce quantitative comparative data. More information and downloads are available at the program website.
