Robin Lovell-Badge

Robin is currently Head of Stem Cell Biology and Developmental Genetics at the MRC National Institute for Medical Research, where he has been since 1988. His research focuses on sex determination, development of the nervous system, and the biology of stem cells within the early embryo, the central nervous system and the pituitary. Prior to this he completed his PhD and postdoctoral work with Martin Evans in London and Cambridge, before establishing his first independent lab in 1982. Robin is also an Honorary Professor at UCL, a Visiting Professor at the University of Hong Kong and President of the Institute of Animal Technology, as well as a member of several advisory boards. He is a European Molecular Biology Organisation Member, a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences and a Fellow of the Royal Society. He has been awarded several prizes, most notably the 1995 Louis Jeantet Prize for Medicine, and most recently the Waddington Medal, awarded for "outstanding research performance as well as services to the subject community".
