Arindam Chaudhuri
Arindam has been a consultant vascular surgeon since 2006 and has a strong interest in endovascular treatment of aneurysmal disease. He qualified in Kolkata, India, and is now a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, from which he received his Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) degree in 1997 and subsequently his specialist FRCS in 2005. Arindam is a reviewer for major scientific journals such as 'Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology' and the 'European Journal of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery'. His research into the biomechanics of aneurysm rupture (leading to an MSc from the University of London) and the treatment of these, combined with an interest in both digital still and movie photography, enables him to pursue an academic side interest that allows him to generate interesting images. This is particularly relevant given that vascular/endovascular surgery is highly image- and therefore radiology-dependent.
Arindam comments: "It is satisfying to produce images that are not only directly relevant to patients’ treatment, novel or not, but to also combine the scientific with the aesthetic."
